Sometimes, a tooth does not heal properly after a root canal procedure. Your tooth can become diseased and infected months or years after you underwent treatment. To promote healing and reduce discomfort in a patient, a dental specialist may perform an endodontic retreatment. This entails removing the infection, cleaning and shaping the canal, and sealing it with a temporary filling.
During your re-treatment procedure, Dr. Mickel will re-open the infected tooth and remove the material filling the root canal. This gives him access to the blocked canal. He will then proceed to clean the infected canals before filling and sealing them back up.
You will need to schedule a consultation with Dr. Mickel to determine the best treamtent plan for your unique needs.
